Bonnie Bear

Together with her best friend, Mr. Gramophone, Bonnie Bear creates colorful paintings from sounds that she hears. In every episode, Mr. Gramophone has three different sounds of a common theme to play for Bonnie. It is up to Bonnie to recognize these sounds, name them and paint the object or place of origin. “Bonnie Bear” demonstrates how working with both your ears and hands can bring together sounds and colors to create a beautiful, whole picture.

Program Viewing Tips
  • Encourage your child to listen closely whenever Bonnie or her gramophone tell us that a sound is coming.
  • What do you think that sound is? Ask your child after each new sound. Bonnie Bear helps children sharpen their listening skills.
  • Play Bennie's game with your child at home: listen to and label different sounds around your house or neighborhood.
  • Listening and the ability to focus on isolated sounds is an important pre-reading skill.
  • Hearing isolated words makes learning vocabulary easier for infants.
